Interpreting Discomfort

Many times caring actions will bring people closer together, but it can also make people uncomfortable with too much attention. In this series of works, she discusses how much attention is too much? How is this feeling of discomfort formed? For the attention given by others, people all want to classify it as a concern, but too much attention may become a kind of pressure. She uses this series of works to discuss with the viewer the comfortable distance of interaction between people.

Pikku

Pikku vase collection is studio made from recycled waste glass. The rhythm of the process creates unique splashes of color inside each object. The collection is inspired by soap bubbles and the dance of brush strokes of abstract impression. Every Pikku vase has their own breath. Its a metaphor for a soul of a piece. Pikku combines sustainable thinking and Scandinavian design philosophy.

Frail World

The Frail World table on wide stable legs from the side looks unshakable, like the universe itself. However, when viewed from above, its thin lines, enclosed in a circle of tabletops, form the symbol Pacific on the fragile glass. Life and peace on Earth look just as fragile from space. When a fragile peace is destroyed by war, it is very difficult to sit down at the negotiating table. But that is the only possible salvation.

Throbbing Stillness

Throbbing Stillness is part of a series of vessels exploring abstract ideas, concepts and existential questions. The paradox of Throbbing Stillness is that instead of the expected functionality of a flower vase, it implies the existence of a space capable to contain further communication with the viewer. Through its organic form it manages to transcend the rigidity of the medium and it seems to be vibrating with vital energy. Its shape and color highlight concepts such as emptiness, potentiality, expansion.

Pulse

Pulse visualizes the emotional states of immigrants when they enter a new realm. It appears to be still, yet sometimes beats harshly and sometimes expresses slowly. Migrating to a new environment has all kinds of feelings, including hope, excitement, nervousness, fear, and joy. There are many to expect during the process, difficulties to deal with, and challenges to face. These emotional waves are critical elements of a new journey, yet unable to share with new neighbors.

Blessing from the Sea

The white church represents the carrier of faith, and the strong wind represents the social environment. In the present society, information is becoming more and more transparent and diverse, but people's beliefs are becoming more and more vague and uncertain, and it is easier and easier to forget their original intentions and their own hearts. The wind wears away the church slowly, just like the scene of the farewell ceremony, the faith is disappearing and forgotten gradually.
